Erik Rein-Hedin

Erik Rein-Hedin

Dr. Erik Rein-Hedin is CTC’s deputy Chief Medical Officer (dCMO) and has been with CTC since 2016. Erik has acted as principal investigator and co-investigator in 100+ clinical trials in all clinical phases but is mainly dedicated to phase I trials in healthy volunteers, including first-in-human.

Renske Altena

Dr. Renske Altena is a medical oncologist with over 15 years of clinical experience in the field of oncology. She is associate professor of oncology at Karolinska Institutet (oncology-pathology) and a senior consultant/lead physician at Docrates Cancer Center.

Mohammad Alimohammadi

Dr. Mohammad Alimohammadi is a dermatologist and previous senior lecturer at the Department of Medical Sciences, Dermatology and Venereology, at Uppsala University. His clinical work and research focus ion skin  tumors, inflammatory skin diseases and aesthetic dermatology.

Jarl Hellman

Dr. Jarl Hellman is a senior consultant in endocrinology and diabetes and Head of Diabetes at Uppsala University Hospital and has a long-standing commitment to improving diabetes care through both clinical practice and academic leadership. His work focuses on type 1 diabetes, particularly the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and smart insulin delivery systems.

Jonas Svensson

Dr. Jonas Svensson is a specialist in psychiatry and affiliated researcher at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. His research focuses on aging and neurodegenerative diseases, with particular expertise in developing biomarkers and conducting clinical trials in these areas.

Dag Nyholm

Dr. Dag Nyholm is a specialist physician in neurology and professor of neurology at Uppsala University. His research is mostly focused on movement disorders, especially optimization of treatments in Parkinson's disease, but also cervical dystonia, essential tremor, Huntington's disease and normal pressure hydrocephalus.

Dr. Johan Nilsson is a resident physician specializing in clinical pharmacology and has been working with CTC since 2020. He has experience as principal investigator and co-investigator in more than 50 clinical trials in all phases, including first-in-human.

Jian Fransén

Dr. Jian Fransén is a board-certified specialist physician in general surgery and has been with CTC since March 2020. His clinical interests range from wound healing and surgical devices to cancer diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.

Dr. Hjalmar Flygt is a specialist physician with broad experience in internal medicine, currently specializing in hematology. Clinically, he works with benign and malignant hematological diseases and bone marrow transplantations.

Folke Sjöberg

Dr. Folke Sjöberg is a senior consultant in anesthesiology/intensive care and a professor of intensive care and burn surgery. Folke has 40 years of experience within his field of expertise and has served as primary investigator in 250+ clinical trials, ranging from phase I-IV.

Dr. Björn Schultze is a resident physician in general medicine. He has been with CTC since 2022 acting as principal investigator and co-investigator in 25+ early phase trials, including first-in-human trials.

Dr. Håkan Walfridsson is a senior consultant and associate professor in cardiology. He has over 40 years' clinical experience in cardiology with a special interest in arrhythmias and has been performing catheter ablations since the introduction of this technique.

Kaveh Azizi

Dr. Kaveh Azizi is a specialist physician in cardiology and internal medicine. He has a broad interest in the cardiovascular field with a special interest in arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. Kaveh works since 2023 primarily at CTC’s Stockholm site as principal investigator and sub-investigator and has a particular focus on late-phase clinical trials.

Dr. Sonia Jonsson is a specialist physician in general medicine. Since 2023, she works as a principal- and co-investigator mainly in phase II and III clinical trials at CTC’s MTC site in Uppsala.

Dr. Fredrik Huss is a senior consultant and associate professor in plastic surgery. Fredrik is Director of Uppsala Burn Center and the Tissue Establishment at the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery, both at Uppsala University Hospital.

Khalid Abd-Elaziz

Dr. Khalid Abd-Elaziz is a specialist physician in clinical pharmacology and joined CTC Netherlands in 2024. Khalid has been principal and co-investigator in 80+ early phase clinical trials and is an all-round clinical pharmacologist with focus on design, execution, supervising, analysing, monitoring and reporting of clinical trials in healthy volunteers and patients. Khalid has especial interest in first-in-human and high risk phase I and phase II studies.
